One or more of my smoke detectors are chirping every minute.

Most likely, the chirping indicates a low battery on your standard smoke detector that was installed by the electrician during construction of the house. Here's what you should do:

1. Replace the battery immediately. Refer to the user manual for your specific smoke detector model for instructions.

2. Ensure the battery is properly installed. Check for correct insertion and clean connections.

3. Clean the smoke detector. Dust and dirt can also cause chirping. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior.

4. If chirping persists after these steps, there may be a problem with the unit itself. Contact the manufacturer directly for assistance or replace the smoke detector.

Remember:

  • A chirping smoke detector is a warning sign that it may not function properly in a fire emergency. Promptly address the issue.
  • Do not ignore a chirping smoke detector. Replace the battery and test the unit regularly to ensure proper functionality.
  • DHD cannot service or replace these smoke detectors as they were not installed by us. Any fire/smoke monitoring devices we installed do not chirp or make noises. If there are any issues with any monitoring products installed by DHD, your security keypad or touchscreen will indicate an error or malfunction.
