Before you begin:
- Make sure your security system is Disarmed.
- Gather the necessary tools. You'll need a new CR123A lithium battery.
- Locate the sensor. It's next to one of your existing Smoke detectors that was built with the house. Typically on the lower level.
Changing the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment. On most models, it's located on the bottom of the sensor. There's usually a small tab or button you need to press to release the cover. Press the tab or button and carefully remove the cover.
- Locate the old battery and gently remove it.
- Insert the new battery, making sure the positive and negative terminals are aligned correctly. The positive terminal is usually marked with a "+" symbol.
- Replace the cover and snap it into place. You should hear a click when it's properly seated.
Additional tips:
- Use high-quality lithium batteries for optimal performance and lifespan.
- Keep track of when you change the batteries. Most Firefighter sensors have a low-battery indicator that will let you know when it's time to change the batteries, but it's a good idea to be proactive about replacing them.
