Reboot Qolsys Panel

Soft reboot:

A soft reboot is done from the panel's touchscreen menu. It's the equivalent of restarting your computer and is the recommended method for most troubleshooting.

Here's how to do a soft reboot on a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 & IQ Panel 4:

  1. Start from the main screen of your IQ Panel.
  2. Press the small grey bar at the top of the screen
  3. Choose Settings, followed by Advanced Settings.
  4. Enter your Master Code
  5. After entering the code, you will be in the advanced settings menu.
  6. Choose Panel Reboot.
  7. Then press OK to confirm.
  8. The panel will begin rebooting. It will take a few moments for the reboot process to complete.
  9. The panel will then power back on automatically.

Hard reboot:

A hard reboot is done by physically disconnecting the panel from power. It should only be done as a last resort, as it can corrupt data or damage the panel if not done correctly.

Here's how to do a hard reboot on a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 & 4:

  1. Power down the panel. You can do this from the touchscreen menu (Settings > Advanced Settings > Power Down) or by holding down the power button on the side of the panel for 5 seconds.
  2. Disconnect the backup battery. The battery is located in the panel. Remove any screws holding the panel door. The battery is connected to the panel with red and black wires. Disconnect the wires from the battery.
  3. Disconnect the AC power adapter. The power adapter is plugged into the outlet in or near the panel. Unplug the adapter from the outlet.
  4. Wait for 30 seconds. This gives the panel time to fully power down.
  5. Reconnect the AC power adapter. Plug the adapter back into the outlet.
  6. Reconnect the backup battery. Reconnect the red and black wires to the battery, making sure the positive and negative terminals are matched correctly.
  7. Close the Panel door and replace the screws.
  8. Power on the panel. Press the power button on the side of the panel.
